Volunteer

How to volunteer on game days:

1) You HAVE to sign up in advance, for any volunteer role ( bringing water/ice, field monitoring, field set up or field take down, picture day, trophy day, etc.)

2) In order to volunteer for any role (except bringing water/ice) you need to send your vaccination card or a negative covid test within 72 hours of when you are suppose to volunteer, or a positive covid test within 90 days and complete the required 10 day quarantine.

If you do not sign up in advance and send one of the covid requirements and just go to field monitor or volunteer, AYSO can be fined and/or lose our permits. We understand that it makes it more difficult to volunteer, but this is what is required by the LA County Health Department and we must follow it.

To sign up to volunteer, please email the Volunteer Coordinator @  [email protected]

Volunteer Points

Every team in U10 through U14 will play and enjoy their regular season games. However, in order to qualify for postseason play, the following requirements must be met: All teams must earn a minimum of sixty (60) points to participate in postseason regional play-offs. Compliance with the Week 5 Volunteer Points requirement will be the first tie-breaker criteria in the event two teams are tied in standings at the end of the season. In the event the season is shortened, or a full schedule cannot be played, Volunteer Point requirements may (or may not) be adjusted and/or prorated at the discretion of the Regional Commissioner.

TEAMS MUST EARN 30 VOLUNTEER POINTS (AT LEAST 15 OF WHICH MUST COME FROM REFEREEING) BY THE END OF WEEK 5 OF THE SEASON. FULFILLING THIS REQUIREMENT WILL BE THE FIRST TIEBREAKER CRITERIA USED IN DETERMINING LEAGUE PLAYOFF TEAMS. TEAMS MUST EARN AT LEAST 30 OF THEIR REQUIRED 60 VOLUNTEER POINTS FROM REFEREEING IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR REGIONAL PLAYOFFS. A TEAM THAT DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM PARTICIPATION IN PLAYOFFS, AND THE NEXT-ELIGIBLE TEAM IN THEIR DIVISION WILL TAKE THAT TEAM’S PLACE.

TEAMS SUBJECT TO AREA (NOT REGIONAL) SCHEDULING: IN THOSE AGE DIVISIONS (14U AND ABOVE) THAT PLAY REGULARLY-SCHEDULED GAMES OUTSIDE THE REGION, THE VOLUNTEER POINT REQUIREMENTS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS: WEEK 5 AND WEEK 10 VOLUNTEER POINT REQUIREMENTS: NO CHANGE FROM ABOVE. 7 POINTS FROM REFEREEING BY THE END OF WEEK 5 15 POINTS FROM REFEREEING BY THE END OF WEEK 10.

3) Weekly Assignments (minimum of 10 points)
  • Field Monitors: 1 point
  • Board tent Set Up/ Board tent take Down: 3 points
  • Water Donation: 1 point per case
  • Ice Donation: 1 point per bag
  • One-Time Events: 5 points
Here are additional details on these assignments…

Field Monitor Duty requires the parent to monitor the field an hour before or after your child's game. You will wear an orange field monitor vest and patrol the field area to ensure that all coaches, referees, spectators and players are adhering to AYSO's Code of Conduct. You do not need to sign up in advance for this.  Sign-in is at the tent on the field. Each team should provide at least 1 field monitor each game day. It would be great if you could plan on field monitoring the week you sign up for snacks!

Board Tent Set Up/Take Down is helping set up/take down the board/referee tents and tables at each field. If you choose to volunteer for this position, you must be on the field one hour before the first game and stay one hour after the last game.

Water/Ice Donations are accepted at the tent on the field and we can donate up to 2 cases/bags per week (though this volunteer role tends to fill up fast, so we’ll want to sign up early).

One Time Events would require a 2 hour shift at various events such as picture day & trophy pick up.
